10 dead and more than 250 missing after massive mudslide hits a tea plantation area in Central Sri Lanka

Wednesday, a tea plantation in Koslanda in Central Srilanka that is a house to more than 100 workers and their families had been struck severely by a massive landslide. According to the rescue team, from the scenario it looked liked everything and maybe everyone had been wiped out. Everything is buried in mud and so it was hard to state at the moment that those 250 who had been reported missing are still alive.  The rescue workers have managed to pull out ten bodies from the mud till now.

The mudslide was triggered because of heavy rain fall and because the water is still gushing down hillsides the possibilities of more mudslides are very high. Meanwhile the search for the missing people is being carried out, but the heavy rains are yet making it much harder. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
