lok-shahi-din1Government officials’ apathetic attitude towards citizens’ grievances is nothing new. One of the major problems that citizens face in government offices is either the officials in charge are often not available or public work is not expedited. In lieu of tackling this, the state has given strict directives to hold “Lok Shahi Din” in all government offices. While NMMC Commissioner meet citizens for “Lok Shahi Day” on the first Monday of every month, at the Konkan Commissioner’s office the day is observed on the second Monday of every month. In the course, the Lok Shahi Din of the Konkan Commissioner this week saw 18 complaints registered with the office. Citizens aware of the day walked in and met the Dy. Commissioner of Konkan Region Shyam Deshpande. After the day’s proceedings, the officer gave us an insight. The complaints registered at the Konkan Commissioner’s office include 8 complaints against NMMC, 6 from revenue dept., 1 against the Social Welfare Commissioner’s office and 2 against the UD department. In last Lok Shahi Din observed at the Konkan Commissioner’s office, a total of 30 complaints were registered. With cameraperson Roshan Hate, Anil More for NMTV News.
