40 YEARS LIVING IN SLUMS DEMOLISHED AS ON GOVERNMENT LAND

slums2Residing for the last 20 to 25 years on the land of Maharashtra State and Central railway, the slum dwellers of various regions in Mumbai are now forced to live on streets. But they have not given up hope as they continue to battle for their rights. It is a well known fact that slums are considered as vote banks to politicians and political parties especially at the time of elections. Post the elections slum dwellings in parts of Mumbai are being demolished rendering the slum dwellers homeless. The slum dwellers while have the requisite documents have been forced to live on streets now. Slum dwellers allege that their homes are demolished by the state, when it is in need of land, thus making them homeless. The slum dwellers have however decided not to sit silent on the issue and fight their battle. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Hansraj Kanaujia for NMTV news.
