
In a spine-chilling incident in Kerala, A pregnant elephant died after locals fed her a pineapple stuffed with crackers, in Palakkad, the incident took place on May 27.
The officials said that the elephant died standing in river Velliyar after it suffered an injury in its lower jaw.
State Forest Minister K Raju said that one person has been arrested in connection with the killing of a pregnant elephant in Palakkad district in Kerala.
K Raju added Forest and police officials are conducting a joint probe into the elephant’s death and a ‘very fruitful investigation’ is going on.
The Forest Department of Kerala tweets “KFD has zeroed in on the culprits and recorded the first arrest in the wild elephant death case”.
However, according to forest department sources three more people are under the scanner of the joint investigation team of Kerala police and their personnel and a search was on for two more people.
The department said as there is no evidence that the injury to the elephant’s lower jaw was caused by a pineapple stuffed with crackers or it might be a possibility.
