wild-cat-4With de-forestation on the rise, wild animals are seen wandering into city life. A similar example was seen when in the Airoli region a wild cat suspected as a leopard was caught by the forest department. It is said that these wild cats usually habitat in forests closer to the sea. It was a chaotic atmosphere in Airoli when a wild cat suspected as a leopard was spotted here. A huge crowd came to see this wild cat while some closed their doors and windows out of fear. The attempts of the fire fighting department failed to catch wild cat and later the forest department came into picture and caught the wild animal. While most were initially suspecting that it was a leopard, the forest officials informed that it was indeed a wild cat which usually habitats near the sea coast. The increasing destruction of mangroves and deforestation has forced the animals to wander into the city. While many incidents of spotting leopards in Yeur and Ghodbander regions of Thane, similarly Navi Mumbai may also experience this in future if destruction of mangroves continues, not only leading to extinction of rare species but also inadvertently affecting the human life.
