With the rise in construction debris in the city and mounds of garbage accumulating at Deonar and Mulund dumping grounds, BMC has plans to set up another dumpyard on the outskirts of the city in Taloja. While MCGM is still deciding, there is still no clarity if the proposed dumping ground in Taloja will be used for dumping of solid waste or construction debris. If the plan goes underway then a 200 acre land will be bought by MCGM. It will also be used for all recycling of waste plant, asphalt plant and bio-medical waste incinerator plant. With a rapid increase in construction debris, the land at Taloja is likely to be used for dumping construction waste. Looks like the woes of MCGM in regards to getting a dumping ground has no ends. In the past much hullabaloo has been created over the Deonar and Mulund dumping ground with local residents complaining of health issues and demanding for their closure. Hopefully the Taloja dumping ground will not meet the same fate.
