ADIVASIS MARCH TO VIDHAN BHAVAN PROTESTING LAND GRAB IN NAME OF WIND MILLS PROJECTS

adivasi-morcha-1A massive morcha was taken out by the adivasis that went to Vidhan Bhavan through Navi Mumbai. Despite 60 years of independence, one of the communities of the society which is yet to avail the benefits of the government welfare schemes is that of the adivasis. It was in the year 2006 that the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 was brought into force but till date the Act has failed to reach out to the tribal community. With the aim to bring the attention of the government towards their problems, the tribal community across the state took out on a foot-morcha to Vidhan Bhavan. In the scorching heat, these advisais walked the road to Mantralaya. The morcha taken out in traditional advisai style with them playing instruments. The adivasis are protesting against the land grab in the state in the name of beginning windmill projects by corporates and influential people. The adivasis will call off their protest only is the state gives them assurance of relief in writing. Adivasis or the tribal community is of the most neglected sections of the community. Despite the state making crores of allocation in the budget for their welfare and development, the morcha exposes teh pathetic state of affairs that tribal people still live in the state.
