AFTER STATE INTERVENES, SIES NERUL FORCED TO ADMIT ALL 87 STUDENTS IN JUNIOR COLLEGE

sies1Looks like the trauma for parents of 87 students who got admission at SIES College, Nerul and were not being given admission has come to an end as the college admitted all the students. Most parents and students are living the state’s online admission stress for over a month now. These parents gathered outside SIES Junior College of Commerce at Nerul are some of them. Their story of distress was that 87 students were given admission in SIES, Nerul through the online admission system but the college had only 39 seats. Hence the management of the college refused to admit all students citing lack of infrastructural facilities as the reason for the denial. Parents who could take no more of the state’s blunders and failed systems reached the college premises to protest outside the Principals office. To bring the matters under control, Dy. Director of Education Dept. for Mumbai Region V K Wankhede arrived at the college to settle the issue. After speaking to the management, SIES, Nerul’s management conceded to the parents demand and declared that all the 87 students would be given admission in the Commerce stream of the Junior College. The Principal of SIES Nerul, Minu Thomas too spoke to the media after the issue was settled. Local corporator Santosh Shetty too was present to ensure that the issue between the parents and SIES management was settled amicably. With cameraperson Roshan Hate, Anil More for NMTV News.
