AFTER VEGETABLES, AUTO FARES MAY PINCH THE POCKET OF THE COMMON MAN

auto-1After the hike in prices of basic commodities like vegetables, fish and food grains, now it is the turn of auto drivers to hurt you. The minimum rickshaw fare might rise up from Rs 11 to 13, if demands raised by Navi Mumbai unit of Maharashtra Rickshaw Chalak Sena are accepted. As many as 1000 rickshaw drivers from across the city approached Navi Mumbai’s Deputy Regional Transport Office (DRTO), Vashi to hike minimum auto rickshaw fare by Rs 2 as the petrol prices have increased by Rs 4. Assistant RTO Krishna Dev Jadhav said that they will forward the demand to higher authorities. It maybe recalled that earlier the auto fares had been increased to Rs 13 when petrol prices had touched Rs 54 last year but came down when petrol prices had dipped to Rs 49.
