Nearly 150 Ded students protested outside the state assembly against the state’s decision of allowing graduates to directly apply for teaching posts. Recently, the state government had passed the decision of allowing fresh graduates in the recruitment of 8000 primary teachers posts. The decision received immense opposition from the Diploma of Education students who went on a hunger strike since April 14. They had demanded from the government to withdraw its decision. Taking no cognizance of their demands, the Ded students held out a morcha outside the state assembly. As the crowd intensified their protests, the police department arrived and took to lathi charge to control the mob.
