Two trucks illegally taking cattle used for purely farming purpose to Deonar slaughter house were seized by the CBD Police on information received from the Animal Welfare Association. The police seized 44 buffaloes from the trucks that came from Solapur and were headed for Deonar. If it had not been for the alertness of the Animal Welfare Association, these buffaloes would have been illegally taken to the Deonar slaughter house. The NGO has Animal Welfare Association had received information that trucks laden with buffaloes were illegally being taken to a slaughter house. On receiving this information, the CBD Police registered a case and seized the trucks from CBD Belapur area. The buffaloes have been shifted to Vashi village under the protection of NMMC. Trucks numbered MH 04 CU 8958 and MH 16 Q 579 are in the police custody. These trucks had 44 buffaloes. An official of the Animal Welfare Association spoke to the media. Despite a law that bans slaughter of cattle used for farming, such cases are widely reported. The CBD Police have arrested the drivers and cleaners of both the trucks in the case.
