APMC MERCHANTS PROTEST OBAMA VISIT WHILE THEIR LEADER SHARAD PAWAR DINES WITH THE PRESIDENT

_apmc-protest-1On the arrival of US President Barack Obama, the traders of APMC market took out a morcha to oppose the move of the Centre to introduce Foreign Direct Investment in India. Unfortunately, the morcha looked more for record sake as the man who could have kept the concerns of the merchants and traders in front of President Obama – Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar was instead dining with him. The traders of the APMC market came down on the streets to protest against the Centre’s possible acceptance of the Foreign Direct Investment in India. The arrival of US President Barack Obama has alarmed multibrand retailers, small-scale domestic retailers, hawkers, and the small-scale industries of India. These traders and retailers fear the Centre’s decision to introduce Foreign Direct Investment in India. The traders say that the FDI will cripple their business due to the mechanized large scale production of goods and the free flow of huge and relatively less priced foreign goods. On the other hand, Director of Fruit Market pointed out that the policy that suits the Western countries may not necessarily fit into the small scale market of India. Unfortunately, the morcha looked more for record sake as the man who could have kept the concerns of the merchants and traders in front of President Obama – Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar was instead dining with him. He definitely did not put forth any concerns of traders and merchants at APMC making the morcha meaningless. With cameraperson Deepak Kamble, Shilpa Suryawanshi for NMTV news.
