The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education issued a circular detailing six rules framed by them, to implement the ATKT facility. On July 10, the state government had announced that students failing in two subjects in the SSC exams would have the opportunity to save an academic year, and could seek admission to the next class under ATKT. According to the MSBSHSE circular, only those students who have failed in the March 2009 Board exam are eligible for ATKT. These students will have to clear their papers in two attempts, failing which their FYJC results would be withheld, and they would be ineligible for HSC until they pass their papers. According to sources, however, though the ATKT facility has been introduced this year, it is likely to be scrapped next year.
