Austria’s Barbara Haas, sixth seed in the tournament, won the singles title, while Russia’s Anna Morgina and Serbia’s Nina Stojanovic bagged the doubles crown at the 3rd Ganesh Naik ITF Women’s Tennis Tounament, held in Vashi on Saturday.
In a closely fought match, Haas beat Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus with a 7-6, 7-6 score to claim victory
Haas has earned 50 Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) points to improve her world ranking. She also bagged Rs 2.45 lakh prize money. The runner up, Sabalenka bagged 30 points and pocketed the Rs 1.30 lakh prize.
In the doubles final, Morgina and last year’s doubles crown winner, Stojanovic beat Russia’s Polina Leykina and Lu Jiajing of China with a 6-3, 7-5 score. The doubles winners bagged 50 WTA points, whereas runners up added 30 WTA points.
