The much-awaited Bandra-Worli sea link will become a tourist spot as the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport intends to start a ferry trip to the sea link from Bandra-Kurla Complex after its opened this month. A business man or an executive while driving to his office can enjoy the view of the Bandra-Worli sea link but what about the common man how can he see it – that’s why BEST has planned an open deck bus tour of the bridge for the citizens. The ferry would start from one of the business hub’s in the city-Bandra-Kurla Complex to Worli Sea Face and can accommodate nearly 38 to 40 passengers and would cost them Rs 15-20. The transport unit has five open-deck buses, which were given to it by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) for the growth of tourism in the city. BEST will use their five open double-decker bus which will cruise across the bridge. This will surely boost public transport and tourism. The state government has approved MSRDC’s proposal of charging Rs 50 for one-way toll for every car, Rs 75 for mini-buses and Rs 100 for heavy motor vehicles such as buses and trucks. The construction work on the 5.6 km sea link work started in 2001 costed nearly Rs 1,340 crore. The sea link is an eight-lane, twin carriageway having a cable-stayed bridge design that will enable speedy travel between Bandra and Worli. Bureau report – NMTV News.
