BASKETBALL GETS A BOOST IN THE CITY AS BASKETBALL HOOPSTERS STEAL THE SHOW

basketball-3The hoopsters from US proved as show-stealers as they put up a spectacular show during the exhibition match against Central Railway before thousands of people who gathered at Fr Agnel’s Multipurpose School courts. The team from Shooting for Success (SFS) derailed Central Railway 73-59 in the match. Even as the match proved to be a cakewalk for Americans, the entire sporting atmosphere coupled with cultural programmes was sort of carnival for all those present. The SFS team comprising semi-professional and selected college basketball players from San Antonio, Texas was traditionally welcomed on the court by offering garland by Central Railway players. Similarly, in return the American players roses to the Indian players before the match. In the first quarter itself Americans took the lead and started shooting sharp three pointers with ease. The Americans leaped strongly in the fourth quarters as they displayed best of their throwing, dunking and defence techniques in matter of just 10 minutes to finish the match with 73-59. The excited players from SFS spoke to NMTV News. Likewise, players of Central Railway were equally happy about the exhibition match. The Principal of Father Agnel school, Father Russel spoke on the purpose of the match. The struggle, passion, swiftness and enthusiasm with speedy movement were there for everyone to see. The match was of four quarter duration, and at the end of every quarter, performance of college students held the attention of all. In short they came, they saw and they conquered the hearts of all.
