As Swaraj Group’s Raj Kandhari passed away a day after he shot himself, the police confirmed that he was stressed about his debts and his business had been suffering for a while. One of his contractors had even filed a police case against him last year, and wrote to the CM to complain that Kandhari had not paid him for his work. During investigations, cops found that the builder was depressed due to financial problems plaguing his business for more than six months, and are gathering more information on this.
The police have also found that a police complaint was registered against Raj Kandhari last year, after he failed to complete payment to Jayesh Patel, who had worked with him on a 2012 project. Patel registered an FIR with the Nhava Sheva police station in August 2015, claiming Kandhari had failed to pay him R1 crore. Patel had also written to the chief minister to complain about this last April.
The Navi Mumbai police are trying to ascertain what drove builder Raj Kandhari to shoot himself dead at his Sanpada home on Monday. Investigators are going through his suicide note again and again to get an insight into his mind as he has not blamed anyone for his action.
Sources in Navi Mumbai police said Kandhari’s suicide note doesn’t specifically point to anyone or a particular reason. It is more of a philosophical one.
On the first page of the note, he writes, “No other person can destroy us, it is due to one’s own acts that people destroy themselves. If one identifies his weaknesses, maintains selfcontrol and performs his duties honestly, no other person will ever be able to bother him.”
He goes on to say, “One should always remember that the losses we suffer are because of our own deeds. Things like ego and jealousy lead to more losses. We keep thinking about other people’s actions and statements but forget to analyse our own acts. If one wants to be different from others, he should act differently and whatever be the behaviour of the other person, we should win their hearts with our action. This will make them realise that we are different from them.”
Kandhari wrote in the second page about how constantly thinking about other’s behaviour ruins a person. “If one wants to progress, he has stop thinking about negative people and if this does not stop, it will lead to destruction.”
In another para, the builder wrote that ups and downs are part of life and one has to learn from them. “Life is like an ECG line. If it runs straight, it means that the life of the person has ended, and if it goes in a zigzag manner that means the person is still alive.”
The CIDCO allegation for delay in clearance of Swaraj Lagoona 40-acre project at Wakdi near Panvel has nothing to do with his suicide as the State has not approved development plan in NAINA area. This angle is purposely being mooted by few reputed builders in the media to exert pressure on CIDCO to clear their files
