BELAPUR AND PANVEL NOMINATIONS REPORT

After the withdrawals of candidatures, 12 candidates are going to contest from Belapur constituency and 14 candidates will contest from Panvel constituencies. In both the cities and the constituencies that come under them, independents are likely to have no impact on the electoral results. Monika Bhosale joins us with details. In the 151 Belapur Constituency; 26 candidates had filed nominations. 3 candidatures were rejected by the election office due to incomplete documentation. On the last day of nomination withdrawals, 11 candidates withdrew their nominations leaving 12 candidates in the fray. Of these five candidates are official party candidates while 7 are independents. In the 150 Airoli Constituency; 12 candidates had filed their nominations of which 2 withdrew leaving 10 candidates in the fray. Of the 10 running for elections, the straight fight is between Congress-NCP alliance candidate Sandeep Naik and Shiv Sena – BJP candidate Vijay Chougule. On the other hand, in the Panvel and Uran constituencies, 15 candidates had filed their nominations of which 1 withdrew leaving a total of 14 candidates in the fray. Of these 4 are official party candidates while 10 are independents. No matter who the other candidates running for elections in Panvel and Uran, the contest in Panvel is between Congress-NCP alliance candidate Prashant Thakur and BJP-Shiv Sena alliance candidate Balaram Patil while in Uran, the contest if between PWP candidate Vivek Patil and Congress-NCP alliance candidate Shyam Mhatre.
