Here’s some good news. By October there will be 450 new buses on the city roads, of which 200 will fully be air-conditioned King Long buses and the rest will be midi buses for feeder routes. A decision to this effect was taken by BEST undertaking. After receiving funds under the JNNURM, Best had decided to procure 1000 new buses. The decision was taken in January and the tenders were floated in the following two months. Tenders have been awarded to Ashok Leyland for 250 midi buses and the King Long buses will be procured from JCBL. This means that 450 uses will be procured by October as the committee was not satisfied with the technical specifications of the remaining 550 buses. These buses will ply only within the city limits. However, the remaining 550 buses will be used on new routes beyond the city limits. With cameraperson Jai Dutta, Ashok Jagtap for NMTV News.
