BJP BMC corporator Jyotsna Mehta moots disabled-friendly parks

MUMBAI: The disabled in Mumbai have always felt that there isn’t adequate infrastructure in the city for them at movie theatres, restaurants or even public gardens. To give the disabled their right to enjoy themselves, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator Jyotsna Mehta has tabled a proposal for mini-gardens to be made specially for physically challenged in every ward so that they can visit these places without being pushed around by the crowd.

The corporator made the demand through a notice of motion which will be discussed by teh civic body soon. “There are so many people in the city visiting recreational spots that the disabled are left with very little space to move around freely. Besides, especially in the case of disabled children, they cannot enjoy the rides as there is nothing built in a manner accessible to them. They hence end up sitting and watching other children enjoying themselves at the rides,” said Mehta.swimming_pool
