BJP MIGHT DRAG CENTRE TO COURT IN EXCESS FOOD GRAIN ISSUE

gopinath-1The BJP is seeking a legal opinion to file a petition against the Centre for “flouting” the Supreme court directive asking the government to freely distribute excess foodgrain stock to the poor, senior party leader Gopinath Munde has said. BJP Senior leader Gopinath Munde has said that the party is seeking legal opinion against the Centre for “flouting” the Supreme court directive asking the government to freely distribute excess foodgrain stock to the poor and expect to get it within a week’s time. He alleged that the UPA cabinet had committed a “contempt of court” by pricing the wheat stocks to be transferred to states in violation of the Supreme Court directive to the contrary. Demanding resignation of Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar for “inefficient” handling of the country’s food stocks, Munde said it was because of “obstinate” attitude of the minister that unsheltered foodgrain stock to the tune of 180 lakh tonnes, was not reaching to the needy population. In reply to a question, the BJP leader alleged that the “Pawar family” was involved in the reported irregularities committed in the land acquisition for the “Lavasa lake city” under construction near Pune and demanded setting up of a CBI inquiry into the charges of illegal transactions.
