BMC ADMINISTRATION FORCED TO MOOT STATE DIRECTIVES ON WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED ENGINEERS

BMC-UNempolyment-6BMC has finally followed the orders of the state government to implement tenders of upto Rs 5 lakhs to provide employment to the many unemployed engineers of the city. Looking at the alarming rate of unemployed engineers in the city, in the year 2002, the state government had directed all government organizations to start tenders upto Rs 5 lakhs. This would aid the unemployed engineers of the city to find work of atleast upto Rs 5 lakhs. In the year 2005, a proposal for the same was put forth to the law committee but till date it was not implemented. The slow working of the corporation was highly oppose by Sena corporator Rahul Shewale. Other corporators too denounced the working of the administration. Finally waking up to the call of the state government and the corporators, BMC has decided to list the name of all the unemployed engineers and allot contracts upto Rs 5 lakhs from the month of April. However, only time will tell if the policy is used to benefit unemployed engineers or gets caught up in the corruption. With cameraperson Abhay Prasad, Rajeev Mishra for NMTV News.
