In the absence of BMC Commissioner Dr. Jairaj Phatak; Addtl. Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbhiye conducted the weekly press conference. Rajeev Mishra reports Addtl. Municipal Commissioner made tall claims of pre monsoon and disaster management work for monsoons. If one was to believe the claims made by Addtl. Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbhiye, then BMC is almost done with the pre monsoon work. He claimed that nearly 83% of the drains and gutters have been cleaned. He also voiced satisfaction over the progress made in cleaning Mithi River. But when the media posed questions of land filling at some sights of the Mithi River in the name of expansion, the officer dodged the question. The officer also feigned ignorance on the amount of public tax drained in the name of cleaning Mithi River. Neither did he have any answer when the media asked him about the figure spent in the name of disaster management. While the BMC administration might make any claims, when the Mayor Dr. Shobha Raul herself has gone on record stating dissatisfaction over the condition of gutters and city drains, the administration definitely comes under suspicion for spending Crores of public taxes in such work and refusing to share the figures with the media.
