As the city grapples with probably the deepest water crisis it has ever faced during monsoon, you can help save enough water to quench the thirst of 37 people. All you have to do is ensure that you close the tap properly. Small drops of water coming out from a tap not closed properly add up to 109 litres a day — enough to quench the thirst of 37 people or give five people a proper bath. Realising this, the hydraulic department of MCGM has sought the help of citizens and societies to tide over the crisis, even as civic authorities are busy formulating a contingency plan to deal with the water shortage.
