The MGCM Commissioner Swadheen Kshatriya is upset that the Versova police charged civic officials for police protection provided during a demolition drive The MCGM and city police are all set to lock horns over the issue of service for police protection. Recently it was reported that civic officials at Versova were charged Rs 13,500 by the police who provided them protection during the demolition of an illegal structure. Civic officials were unhappy with this move and Municipal Commissioner Swadhin Kshatriya decided to take up the issue with Police Commissioner D Sivanandhan. He said that this should not have happened since both MCGM and police are government bodies and work for citizens. He said that such a demand will affect their action against illegal structures. The police department has reportedly stated that they have to charge fees as nearly 500 officers were deputed for the MCGM work.
