Books worth Rs 2.5 lakhs on Mahatma Gandhi sold out within a week


Books based on the life of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, saw huge sale within a week. The books worth Rs 2.5 lakhs were completely sold out in a recent one week long fair.

The book fair was organized by Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal and Gandhi Book Centre to commemorate the 68th death anniversary of Gandhiji and were kept for half the price.

The books were available in different languages including English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati. The exhibition was held at two venues, Hutatma Chowk where a makeshift stall was set up, as well as the Sarvodaya book centre at Nana Chowk, Grant Road.

“In the present world which is ruled by modern technology like smartphones, tablets and e-books, it is heartening to see that many people are still interested in buying books on Gandhiji. Our exhibition proves that his teachings are more relevant than ever,” said mandal president TRK Somaiya, while speaking to a news daily.
