bank-robbary-4The Navi Mumbai Crime Branch has successfully identified the mastermind behind the two-week-old sensational bank robbery at Nerul’s National Co-operative Bank. The Navi Mumbai Crime Branch have finally cracked the robbery case that occurred two weeks ago at the National Co-operative Bank in Nerul. The robbers posing as CBI officials had looted around Rs 11.12 lakhs from the bank. However, the crime branch has found a definite lead in the case and has identified Ashok Jivani of the notorious Dabboo Upadhyay gang as the main accused in the case. This is not the first robbery case in which Ashok Jivani’s name has come up. In October 2006, police sub-inspector Babasaheb Adhao was shot dead by armed men attempting to loot a bank in Airoli during which Jivani, who is an important member of the Dabboo Upadhyay gang, was reportedly present. Ashok Jivani also has a robbery case worth Rs 1 crore registered against him in Ghatkoper and another at Goregaon of Rs 55 lakh. Although the accused are not arrested as of yet, the department is confident that they would be cracking the case soon. Bureau report – NMTV
