Breather for housing societies, commercial establishments as NMMC extends deadline to fit new meters

In a major relief for housing societies, commercial complexes and institutions having water pipeline of more than 15mm, the NaviMumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has decided to extend the deadline to fit AMR meters till November 15, 2016. The extension comes amidst backdrop of complaints from residents that such meters were not available in market readily.

NMMC has appealed to the residents of Navi Mumbai to fit such AMR meters by November 15 or else the water connection will be cut. NMMC has been maintaining that fitting such automatic meters will reduce human interference in the system of billing and the bills can be recorded accurately even if the consumer is not at home. Secondly, the civic body has claimed that for 24×7 hour water supply fitting such water meters is a mandatory condition and the proposal to this effect was also passed by the general body.
