MPCB recently inaugurated a CETP plant with a capacity of 10 MLD at Taloja. The inaugural ceremony was performed at the hands of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. The MPCB’s 10 MLD CETP plant has gone functional at Taloja. The plant would be equipped with techniques to save power & expenditure. This 16.5 crore plant has a capacity of 10 MLD. While talking to NMTV, Environment minister Ganesh Naik spoke more about this plant. He also added that the proposal to increase the capacity of this plant has been put forth. Apart from the environment minister, MPCB secy. Shyamlal Goyal & MLA Vivek Patil were also present during the inauguration. Taloja is one of the most affected areas when it comes to creek and water pollution with hazardous chemical waste. At such a point, the CETP plant has come as a big relief for the villagers who have had to face the brunt of industrial water pollution. While the capacity remains an issue it is to be seen how many industries register with the CETP services. On the other stretch at the TTC MIDC area, the CETP plant could not control industrial pollution to the expectations and so monitoring the services of the new CETP plant gains significance.
