In a broad daylight robbery, Canara Bank at Sector 42 Nerul was looted off nearly Rs. 8.5 Lakhs. The main reason being that the bank does not have a single security guard for the last three years. The local police station had even written a letter to the bank advising them to hire security guards. However, what can be termed as the most negligent behavior, the management of the bank did not comply to the advice even after the warning. More over, even after the robbers ran away from the crime scene, the bank management did not consider it important to ring the alarm. This is the reason why despite being close to the Seawoods Railway Station, the robbers made an easy escape. Speaking to Navi Mumbai News DCP Amar Jadhav informed that there were four robbers with three of them having revolvers and one having a knife. They were of the age group 25 to 30 years. One robber was conversing in Marathi and English while the others were Hindi speaking. DCP Amar Jadhav added that it is natural for the crime rate to increase in all developing areas. Accepting that then bank was at fault for the robbery, the Manager of this branch Ratnakar More said that they will tighten up security measures now.
