Mahatma Phule Nagar at Chembur is afflicted with many problems due to the apathy of BMC administration. The worst being that the children of the area have to walk half hour to go to the nearest school. The residents of Mahatma Phule Nagar & Amrapali nagar at Chembur lack even the basic necessities like toilets & municipal school. The BMC that has Rs. 1100 crore education budget has failed to build a school here forcing children to walk for half hour to reach to the nearest. Due to the lack of toilets open air defecation is another major issue that leads to utter unhygienic conditions. The parents also have several complaints with the BMC administration.
