Chief Election Commissioner Naveen Chawla has refused the demand of the political parties to have print out backup along with Electronic Voting Machines during the time of elections. Chief Election Commissioner Naveen Chawla was present in the city to survey the preparations in lieu of the upcoming state assembly elections. During his visit, he deflated the hopes of the BJP and Shiv sena party and refused their demand of having print out back up along with Electronic Voting Machines during the time of elections. He stated that this would affect the confidentiality of the election votes. He further assured that there would be no technical error with the EVMs as they have been carefully scrutinized.
