The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation election campaign shot up after top leaders from all political parties landed in Kalyan and Dombivli, with their road shows, meetings and rallies stirring up the day-to-day life of the citizens. The NCP too kick started its campaigning here where Chief Minister Ashok Chavan along with other top leaders of the party were present. With just a week to go for the Kalyan Dombivli polls, campaigning at the twin townships is frantic with all the political parties holding rallies and road shows. The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) put aside differences and put on a show of unity at a grand rally on Sunday. Chief minister Ashok Chavan, deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Home Minister R R Patil, Revenue Minister Narayan Rane, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and other senior leaders of the party were present together for kick starting the election campaigning in this region. All the leaders gave the audience what they wanted to hear beginning with Chief Minister Ashok Chavan who in full debaang style said that they had the cure for all diseases which is Chandu Balm. He said that the Sena and BJP had failed to deliver on all its promises for five years. He agreed that because there was no Congress-NCP at the municipal corporation at Kalyan and Dombivili they could not find responsible hands to pass on the funds from the centre and state. He assured development of the region through MMRDA, planning for which is underway. Deputy Chief Minister Chaggan Bhujbal attacked the Sena-BJP leadership, saying they had lost confidence and hence were dragging Sena supremo Bal Thackeray as a last ditch effort to revive the party chances. Revenue Minister Narayan Rane also slammed the Sena saying that the Thackeray family was running the corporation like a business. He strongly criticized Uddhav Thackrey and the new Sena entrant Aditya Thackarey. Home Minister R R Patil also came down heavily on the working of the MNS party. Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik too agreed to Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and said that the JNNURM funds were not utilized in the region properly. He informed that he has been following up with the Centre and state to expedite the SRA scheme in the region. Manoj Singh – NMTV News.
