CHIEF MINISTER ASHOK CHAVAN OF SPEEDING GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES FOR WELFARE OF STATE LABOURS

laborsThe state government will take all needed steps to ensure welfare and progress of labours in the state, assured Chief Minister Ashok Chavan while addressing labours from across Maharashtra in an award ceremony in Mumbai. Dhiraj Mishra joins us with details. According to one survey, there are nearly 4.5 Crore organized and non-organized labours in Maharashtra. To work for the welfare of this massive number is a challenge for the state. For the welfare of this section, the state government has constituted the “Maharashtra Labours Welfare Committee” in 1953. Since then, the committee has been running several schemes and policies for the welfare of labours in the state. A step in this direction is to honour those labours who set examples for their colleagues by working in a style that is par excellence. This honoring ceremony for labours is being organized for the past 27 years for workers. This year the ceremony was held at Labour Welfare Center. 50 labours were honored during the ceremony in the presence of Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the presence of State Labour Minister Hasan Mushrif. Addressing the labours, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said that the state has taken the decision of making homes for labours on mill lands in Mumbai. The step will benefit around 68, 000 labours in the state. The Chief Minister also assured of reviving mills in the state. He also informed the labours that there will be around 55 lakhs jobs that will be available in the SEZs in the state. He also appealed to the Labour Welfare Minister to train labours so that they could get better wages. With cameraperson Raju Sharma, Dhiraj Mishra for NMTV News.
