CHIEF MINISTER ASHOK CHAVAN SEEKS BETTER CO-ORDINATION AMONGST POLICE OFFICIALS

h-mSenior police officials may deny infighting in the force but in a clear admission that there may be a problem, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has asked officials to sort out all differences and work together to make Maharashtra a safer place. Speaking at the state police headquarters, Chief Minsiter Ashok Chavan stated that the police should keep their differences aside and work together for providing better security to the citizens of Maharashtra. Emphasizing on this, he further stated that caste and religion should not come in the way of their duty and the police force, through its work, should create fear of law among anti-social elements. Chavan used the imminent modernisation of the force too to take a dig at the department stating that the latter would be provided with high-tech arms and ammunition. Post-26/11, police officers put the blame on inadequate equipment and weapons for their failure to tackle terrorists. Ashok Chavan also announced the creation of a video conferencing network connecting all district police headquarters. Bureau report – NMTV
