Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan inaugurated the FICCI Frames – a three-day mega media and entertainment industry event – in Mumbai. Apart from Shah Rukh, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, renowned directors Yash Chopra and Karan Johar were present on the occasion. The three day mega media and entertainment industry event – FICCI Frames ended in the city. The event was inaugurated by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who was accompanied by Katrina Kaif. Also present was Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. A panel discussion on Global convention on business entertainment was held which had the key speakers as Producer Yash Chopra, Director Karan Johar, actor Irfan Khan, Rahul Bose and Nandita Das. The panel discussion centred around reaching out to the international audience. Actress Nandita Das said films that were not commercialised failed to reach out to a larger viewership. Speaking exclusively to NMTV News, producer and Chairman of FICCI Entertainment Committee Yash Chopra spoke on the advantage of this event for the entertainment industry. FICCI Films drew to a close with two issues remaining predominant over the three days of the Global Conference on the Business of Entertainment. Two really important issues concerning India cinema by and large i.e piracy and the state of script writers in India were addressed in reasonable depth. The event also focused on better collaboration with foreign films, new formats, and more. King Khan enlisted the challenges ahead if Indian film industry aspired to reach wider global audience. Speaking on the level of animated films, SRK said that the writing style had to be changed. He stressed that an organic change was needed to reach out to the global audience. Actress Katrina Kaif lauded the efforts of the organisers, who are trying to take Indian film industry to new heights. Producer-Director Karan Johar, while speaking to NMTV News too spoke on the panel discussion. According to him there should not be a change in making a domestic film to adapt to a certain market, but the film should have the potential to reach out to a lardger audience. Well, speaking on the outcome of the event, Karan Johar said that there was still a lot to understand. Quite a lot was discussed and awareness created at the 11th FICCI Frames. What one is waiting to see is what practical steps are adopted to deal with these problems. As cynics will tell you, they have been discussed in these boardrooms year after year and yet nothing has changed. This year’s FICCI Frames though brought about a lot of hopes as the people who matter resolved to go a step beyond these usual discussions. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed!
