CIDCO’s PAP Training Center has come a little late but was much needed to ensure that the PAP youth are placed in the growing industrial sector in Navi Mumbai. On paper, CIDCO had made a rather impressive list of courses to be taught to PAP youth at the center, the Chief Minister has instructed CIDCO to ensure that the PAP Training Center does not end up increasing educated unemployed youth. In an effort to provide some kind of livelihood to the Project Affected Persons of the city, CIDCO inaugurated its PAP Training Centre at Dronagiri where PAP youth will be trained to become entrepreneurs and self dependent. The training centre will offer a wide range of courses from retail management to office management to catering for women from July 2009. Each course will have a nominal charge of Rs 250. While the center and CIDCO’s efforts have been appreciated by all sectors, after inaugurating the center, the Chief Minister said that CIDCO should see to it that the youth trained at the center are placed in malls and service industry. The Chief Minister Ashok Chavan also had a word of caution for CIDCO as he asked the corporation to ensure that the center should not end up increasing the number of unemployed youth. CIDCO has tied with SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai to provide the content of the courses at the Droangiri PAP Center. Hopefully, the corporation will practice what the Chief Minister has preached to them. Sana Warsia – NMTV News.
