CHIEF MINISTER HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE POST TERROR ATTACKS

Post the terror attack on Mumbai, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh called for an all party meet at Sahyadri where the BJP, Shiv Sena, Janta Dal and others were present. A failed government sat in the meet one again simply criticizing the terrorist activities and informing the media that the Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Home Minister R R Patil had discussed the situation with discussing at length with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil informed that Rs. 5 lakhs would be compensated to the families of the deceased and Rs 50000 to those injured. Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil outright denied that the Gujarat Police and other intelligence sources had given the Maharashtra Police any information about terrorists using the sea route to operate the terror attacks. The Home Minister said that the state was proud of officers like late ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, Encounter Specialist Vijay Salaskar and ACP Ashok Kamte who sacrificed their lives. The Home Minister informed that the terrorists used AK 47 to shoot the officers. On the other hand the BJP unfortunately started the blame game. BJP Leader Gopinath Munde called the terror attacks as a failure of the state and appealed to the masses to not believe in rumors. With cameraperson Vikrant Baile, Sunil Sharma for NMTV News.
