Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan says no free homes for mill workers

Addressing a debate in the Maharashtra state assembly, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has stated that the government cannot give free homes to mill workers. He stated that only 16,000 mill workers can be given houses that too outside Mumbai and in Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The Chief Minister said that on the 6.83 hectares land handed over by 19 mills 6,948 tenements were ready.
The Shiv Sena called of their bandh after Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan’s assurance of accommodating mill workers in state’s housing schemes.
