A day after the farmers of 22 villages of Raigad threatened to revive their agitation, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said that the state would honor the public opinion that the government had sought through an opinion poll last month. He said that any farmer who gives up his land must be compensated to his satisfaction. The farmers had alleged that the state was deliberately delaying the September 21 referendum result. The official report from Raigad collector is already complete but report from the Irrigation Department is still pending. Rajeev Mishra NMTV News.
