Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who arrived in New Delhi on Friday, will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The two leaders are expected to discuss issues of mutual interests. Wang had arrived in Goa on Friday for a three-day visit to India.
When asked whether he would like to make any statement on China seeking support from India on the South China Sea dispute, Yi said, “It is up to India to decide what position to take.” He will also hold bilateral consultations with the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Wang’s visit to India is part of the regular high-level dialogue between the two countries. Both Foreign Ministers have been meeting regularly on the margins of multilateral meetings.
During their meeting, the two sides will discuss various issues of mutual interests including the upcoming multilateral meetings including G-20 Summit being held in China and BRICS Summit being held in India.
