CIDCO BEATS GLOBAL RECESSION, CLAIMS GLOBAL GIANTS ARE BIDDING FOR ITS THEME CITY AT KHARGHAR

Global recession has not stopped CIDCO from inviting bids for its theme city project at the ganges of Kharghar. Infrastructure giants from the US and Gulf have queued up for this Rs 5,000-crore project. CIDCO has thrown up a sprawling plateau in the Sahyadri range-250 acre at Kharghar-for a global auction at a minimum cost of Rs 2,000 crore to set up a theme-cum-entertainment city on the lines of Hollywood or Disneyland in California and Sentosa Park in Singapore. D N L Murthy, general manager of Special Projects at CIDCO spoke on the details of this project. We also spoke to CIDCO Managing Director G S Gill about the proposed theme park. Many global giants have shown interest in Kharghar’s theme city project. Prominent names include Tishmen Speyer, a leading US real estate firm, Dubai’s infrastructure giants Limitless and EMMAR, Big Entertainment and many others like Mukesh Ambani’s infrastructure wing, Manmohan Shetty, who has floated his own firm, Walkwater Media, and Hindustan Construction Company.
