Nearly 1.25 lakhs applications are expected in CIDCO new housing schemes. Anticipation, anxiety, worry and allegations have obviously dominated reactions. CIDCO Jt. Managing Director Deepak Kapoor however assures that everyone will get a fair chance to be allotted a home and that the lottery system will be as transparent as can be. Nearly 1.5 lakh applicants will try their luck out in being allotted one of the 2,144 apartments up for sale in CIDCO’s new housing schemes at Kharghar. The magnitude of rush and anxiety home buyers must be going through isn’t hard to imagine. These mass housing project coming up at sector 16 and 17, Kharghar at rates varying from Rs. 1, 900 per sq. ft to Rs. 3, 450 per sq. ft. At the sky roketing rates that the private builders are quoting, these homes are the only choice that the common man has in this area to live the dream of owning a home. But since day 1, experts are voicing concerns about the loopholes in the allotment system that leaves scope for corruption and manipulation in the lottery system. Experts like seasoned journalist and President of Navbharat Group D B Sharma and city developer Nalin Sharma had voiced these inhibitions to NMTV earlier. NMTV Managing Editor Zeba Warsia met CIDCO Jt. Managing Director Deepak Kapoor on these allegations. We asked him whether clauses like have Rs. 7200 salary and deposit beginning from Rs. 25, 000 unfair for the lower income group. Jt. MD Deepak Kapoor says that response defies these allegations. Many believe that it is in the lottery system that corruption and manipulation will play a big role. Ask the Jt. MD about the lottery system and he chooses not to comment much though he does say that his best team of computer experts is working on it.
