The issue of up to 2.5 FSI to CIDCO built buildings in Navi Mumbai reeling under dilapidated conditions once again came up for discussions at Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s janta darbar. When CIDCO and NMMC come on the same platform in front of Navi Mumbai citizens in a janta darbar, the issue of FSI to CIDCO buildings is bound to be discussed. So happened at the Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s janta darbar. An IIT survey of 1997 reveals that most CIDCO buildings are reeling under dilapidated conditions while the 2007 Meerani Committee report endorsed this. It’s been over a decade that residents of CIDCO built apartments are demanding that that the state sanctions an FSI upto 2.5 for old CIDCO buildings that will provide relief to their structures. The issue was first taken up by MLC Manda Mhatre who met former CIDCO Managing Director Vinay Mohan Lal on the subject. Very recently Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik met with Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on the same. And now NMMC is following up the matter with the state. At the Hanta Darbar, NMMC Commissioner Vijay Nahata put forth the demand of additional FSI to CIDCO Chairman Nakul Patil and Managing Director G S Gill. However, CIDCO apartment owners who have been hearing promises and assurances of FSI for over a decade, the assurance given at janta dabar believe it will remain just that – an assurance.
