If all goes as per planned, the residents of Navi Mumbai will soon get to access a futuristic science city which promises to be an iconic structure especially when CIDCO approached former President APJ Abdul Kalam for inputs to develop the city’s first ever Science City. On recommendation from the former President, CIDCO officials visited the three leading science parks in India, at Jalandhar, Ahmedabad and Kolkata to understand the concept. The proposed Science city will come up in CBD Belapur on a 40-acre stretch of land near Bharati Vidyapeeth. Science City will comprise of two categories that is a science centre and a science park. Science centre will house hall and exhibition galleries whereas the science park would an open space which will demonstrate science in life. CIDCO is in talks with the National Council Science Museums for the science city which it is aiming to be unique in itself. The project however is at the conceptual stage with CIDCO officials working and ideating on suggestions to materialize the same. For our viewers, a science park or science and technology park as it is popularly referred to as is an area with a collection of buildings dedicated to scientific research. These parks are concerned with future developments in science and technology. The businesses and organizations in the parks focus on product advancement and innovation. Science parks are found all over the world, but seem to be mostly concentrated in developed nations like North America, Taiwan and England. With cameraperson Abhay Prasad, Sana Warsia for NMTV News.
