In Indian tradition the position of Guru is of such great importance that they are respected equivalent to God. Without a proper Guru the knowledge gained cannot be complete. Guru is a person who takes his disciples from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge. The teacher can only teach but a Guru is a person who not only teaches but also sets an example by living as per his teachings.
