CITY DOCTORS OBSERVE ONE DAY STRIKE FOR ORDINANCE ON SAFETY

In view of assaults on the doctors in the state of Maharashtra, Indian Medical Association, Maharashtra went on a one day strike. The doctors of the Indian Medical Association protested incidences of assault on doctors, destroying hospital property, equipment, humiliating the family members and hospital staff at Malad. IMA has been consistently appealing to the state for the last two years to take out the ordinance on the similar pattern of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Delhi. Despite assurances by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil no definite steps have been taken so far. Several eminent doctors participated in the rally which included Dr. M B Choudhary. To avoid inconvenience, the health services were made at govt. hospitals where doctors and workers wore black badges indicating support to the striking doctors of the IMA.
