Nidhi Nair of JSTARC bagged a bronze at the 7th Chuncheon Open Taekwondo Championship 2009 in Korea. She has become the youngest Indian to achieve this award. Nidhi Nair with her recent achievement has become the youngest Indian to win a bronze medal in an International Taekwondo Championship. This feat was achieved at the 7th Chuncheon Open International Taekwondo Championship in the Individual Girls Junior Category (14-18) years in the poomsae division. The Championship was held at Hoban Gymnasium in Chuncheon city in South Korea. Chuncheon is considered to be one of the most sacrosanct championships in he field f taekwondo at the international level. Nidhi says it was just a hobby but gradually she started getting more involved in it. She practiced for 10 to 12 hrs daily and she was very happy when she won the bronze medal.
