The owner of Parichay Hotel of Shanti Center at Sector 17, Vashi has made serious allegations against the working of the managing committee stating that they are violating rules and indulging in malpractices. The NMMC DMC Encroachment has assured to look into the matter, reports Monika Bhosale. City’s popular commercial complex, Shanti Center located at Sector 17, Vashi has come in the eye of the controversy as one of the oldest occupants of the commercial building has made serious allegations against the working of the managing committee of Shanti Centre. Gopal Shetty – the owner of Parichay Hotel who has been running his hotel from here for the last 25 years says that managing committee of the building was disqualified two years ago when the committee did not fill the mandatory M20 forms. Moreover the committee also did not call for the Annual General Body Meeting, he alleges. Making serious allegations that hint at misappropriation of funds, Gopal Shetty says that despite the accounts running into Crores, the committee has not submitted filed their returns at the Registrar’s office. The Committee’s Chairman is popular builder Satish Sablok of Kamdhenu Builder Group whereas Professor Dhakne of Dhakne Classes is the Secretary of the Committee. Voicing concern on the structural strength of Shanti Center, Gopal Shetty says that the front portion is mostly constructed of stressed that marbles and the name boards on the building pose a threat. He informed that once two name boards had fallen down and one person had a close shave to death in the incident. Another unchecked work is taking place right above Parichay Hotel where the owner of office no 13 Dr. Lal Pathlabs is installing a heavy generator on the terrace. Gopal Shetty alleges that the managing committee has also granted a NOC for this work despite the lab not procuring the mandatory permission for the same from the MPCB, PWD and NMMC. Despite bringing these issues to the attention of NMMC, action has not been initiated yet. Besides allegations of violating the rules and laws, the conditions that the society reels under are pathetic. The building is in a dilapidated condition, the terrace of building is too dirty. There is leakage problem and water pipes are in a poor shape too. Water tanks of most of the offices are broken while drum of kerosene can be seen kept at the premises. NMTV News NMMC Dy.
