And to preserve this tradition and pass on the values to next generation, every year at Thane, the Pandit Ram Marathe Sangeet programme is organized. Well known names in the field of music and dance present their talent here. With the 16 years completion of the Pandit Ram Marathe Smriti, yet another event on classical dance and drama was held in Thane which was inaugurated by Mayor Smita Indulkar. The best performance was given by Pandit Upendra Bhatt. Pandit Upendra is the student of the Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and as a tribute to his teacher, presented the ‘Swarbhaskarala Swarvandana’. Another senior dance director Deepak Mujumdar engrossed the audience with his performance on Ramcharit manas. The event was made all the more memorable with the performance of late pandit Kumar Gandharva’s daughter Kalapini Komkali’s singing and by the performance of Yograj Naik’s Satar wadan.
